Accessible Education Office Examinations
Final and Midyear examinations for students registered with the Accessible Education Office (AEO) are scheduled and administered by instructional staff of the course. AEO determines accommodations in keeping with clinical standards and fairness to the entire class. Exam administration is consistent with non-AEO exam procedures, with the following additional criteria to ensure proper implementation of AEO-approved accommodations:
-
All AEO exams begin at 10:00 am or 11:00 am (depending on the student’s particular accommodation) on the same day as the general administration, unless there is a scheduling conflict with another exam. In such instances, the course staff will administer the exam at an appropriate time within 24 hours of the original schedule.
-
The course head will provide AEO with a copy of all examinations which need to be reformatted no later than two weeks before the exam.
-
Instructional staff will become familiar with approved accommodations, including allotted extended time and breaks (if any), required technology in addition to media, and other assistance.
-
If the subject matter and/or a student’s clinical condition does not lend itself to a student’s use of an examination booklet or computer, the course head will designate or approve a qualified scribe or reader.
